A Taste of Gaza
Palestinian Cuisine in Quezon City – by the Filipino Palestinians from Gaza
17 March 2024 – MCCC Hernandez
Today, seven Urduha volunteers and three donors provided assistance to the ladies of the Filipina Palestinian families from Gaza.
The parents are all unemployed and seeking work. Their children are yet to be enrolled in local schools. Many grownups among them are diabetic or hypertensive and require maintenance medication.
We helped them set up a facebook page for the start of their online food order business – a group endeavor by all 13 Filipina Palestinian families in the Little Gaza compound in Quezon City. Donors provided for cooking appliances and operational costs for the day.
If you want to help them out, try ordering from their page while we help them set it up properly: A Taste of Gaza – Palestinian Food in Quezon City
This afternoon, after a long Sunday of volunteer work, Alexine summed it up best on our way home: “I didn’t experience it personally, but many people I know had to start from scratch after the Marawi siege. Imagine seeing the family home you built with your life savings destroyed by war, and having to leave and start new with nothing. That’s why I understand what the FIlipino-Palestinians from Gaza must be going through.”
As holistic self defense goes, these Filipina-Palestinian ladies are safe from harm now that they are back in the Philippines.
Economic Self Sufficiency is the fifth element of holistic self defense – and it can empower women and keep them safe from dangerous situations.
There is much to be done for these ladies to be economically self sufficient again. But we helped them through the first steps of that today, with the creation of fb.com/ATasteofGaza
Our thanks to all who assisted. There will be more outreach to these families in the future. If you want to help out, just message!
Two weeks earlier, Cecelia of Urduha dropped by the Little Gaza compound in Quezon City to check on the needs of the Filipina-Palestinian families before the start of Ramadan. Today’s assistance was the fulfillment of promises made that day.
